This is why PSB Fitness was developed with Sheridan students in mind because we are aware of this difficulty. In order to help students maintain an active lifestyle, lower stress levels, and develop better habits without compromising their busy lives, we developed Recharge, a flexible and affordable student gym program at Sheridan College.

Recharge is part of the “Fit for Life” campaign. Fit for life’s approach is straightforward. Exercise should enhance your life rather than making it more difficult. What is Recharge?

Recharge is a fitness program offered at Sheridan gym’s for students at all the campuses. This allows students to complete short 30 minutes workout sessions or more, group or individual beginner classes and wellness support. The goal is to make it easier for students to get active without having them feel overwhelmed with school and work. They will be able to work out before or after classes or during breaks because they won’t have to commute off campus, everything would be accessible for them at the campus.

This program is also great for students who are just starting their workout journey because PSB fitness is a supportive program that is beginner friendly. People tend to get scared or nervous when going to a new gym, especially because of working out in front of others and not knowing how to use certain gym equipment. However, our program’s goal is to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable when working out. We want students to ask questions and build confidence while excising.

Why Recharge works for Sheridan Students?

Recharge is great for Sheridan students because it’s convenient for them right on campus. Students will not need to travel extra to go exercise and get active, they can just do it along with attending classes. This is beneficial for students who have to commute a long way to get to school, students who are working while attending school, or even students who have long school days. The company, PSB Fitness, is founded by two graduates from Sheridan’s very own Pilon School of Business, Jessie and Matt. Jessie has 7 years’ experience as a fitness instructor. Matt is a certified personal trainer with 5 years’ experience and 15 existing clients.

As people pay more and more attention to their health. Therefore, People keep their bodies fit by exercising. For youths, exercise benefits their brain development. Why does proper exercise help effective learning?

The reason for an effective learning state comes from two aspects. They are the physical and psychological states. In the aspect of psychological state, it’s necessary for students to have a relaxing and joyful mood. Because it is better for students to grasp knowledge. In other words, The happiness that exercises bring to them improves their motivation to study.

On the other hand, fitness does some positive influence on our body. Firstly, physical exercise releases proteins in the brain. It can help improve memory and increase cognitive performance. Secondly, the oxygen and glucose in the blood that is gained from exercise are typically what the brain needs for functioning at a high speed.

In the previous blog, we discussed how Yoga helps with mental and physical health. Reliving stress and enhancing metabolism is also the key reason for effective learning. So we may say that proper exercise has a positive impact on learning to a great extent.

Pick a date and time to go to the gym! Make sure that you’re available and won’t have any surprise plans or excuses to miss out on your first day. The more easily it is incorporated into your schedule and route, the more beginner-friendly it is as there will be less resistance before your visit. For Sheridan College staff and especially students, PSB Fitness is located nearby HMC campus, making it convenient to stop by for a workout.

  1. Plan Your Workout!

Try to have a few set beginner workouts or exercises that you would like to test out before you head into the gym! This can be found be either looking online or on the PSB website where we have articles about various beginner-friendly workout and fitness plans. Focus on workouts that will help you reach your personal goals. If you’re looking to increase your stamina and gain more energy, search for cardio or HIIT workouts. If you want to build muscle, try strength training exercises. Here are a few examples to get you started: 4-Week Beginner Program, The Perfect Full-Body Beginner Workout, and Beginner Strength Training.

  1. Bring a Workout Bag

The day or night before, prepare a workout bag. Pack a set of comfy workout or active clothing that’s weather appropriate, a water bottle, towel, light snack, active footwear, headphones, and hygiene products. Bonus points for bring a reusable and refillable water bottle! If you’re planning to use the shower facilities, make sure to bring your soap, and hair products where necessary.

  1. Don’t Forget to Eat

Many gym beginners don’t realize that they need to fuel their bodies. Many will tend to forget that they need to eat especially before a workout. So, remember to eat a light meal before heading into the gym. You can also try pre-workout drinks and powders that can help enhance your gym visit.

 

When You’re There

A lot of newcomers can feel out of place in a gym. Here’s a few tips to help you combat that and feel more comfortable when you visit PSB Fitness!

  1. Remember to Stretch

When arriving at the gym, lots of beginners will jump right into their workout and skip this important step. Always remember to take a few minutes before starting your workout to stretch. This will help loosen up your muscles and get your blood pumping. Stretching will help to prevent injuries and make your workout even more effective.

PSB Fitness staff is here to help. With years of experience, education, and training, we can provide you with valuable knowledge. It’s common for beginners to be confused with some of the equipment available at the gym. If that sounds like you, please reach out to one of our staff so that we can help guide you on how to effectively use the equipment. Our gym is beginner-friendly, and we have a no tolerance policy for judgement and harassment. So, don’t be shy!

  1. Clean Up Your Equipment

Please be courteous of other gym members by putting away and resetting any of the equipment you use back to the way you found it. This will ensure that all members are in a gym environment that is safe and clean!

    ABOUT US:
    Pilon School of Business (PSB) has launched an on-campus gym service. This fitness center provides students and team members 24/7 Zumba and yoga classes and many other activities. By doing this, their mind can get relaxed with music and dance by doing Zumba exercise many other kinds of exercise such as aerobics, Zumba, Yoga, and CrossFit exercise. Their emphasis lies on workouts like Zumba and Yoga, as both are properly combined physical activity.

    Our fitness club offers gym passes to its students and workers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This means they will use it at any time and on any campus, as long as the gym is open. Currently, the operation is in its infancy, with plans in place to offer world-class service to its customers. The instructors are well trained and have extensive experience as coaches. Since some students and staff are committed to their fitness, the gym also provides virtual courses to them. Furthermore, it is impossible to come every day due to work. As a result, the provider is prepared to offer simulated virtual courses for them.

    What makes PSB Different from Others?
    The gym has a set preparation regimen that sets them apart from the competition. The set routine for them is that they will do some basic exercises to prepare their bodies for workouts. After that, clients will engage in a one-hour Zumba session in which they will dance their way through an aerobic workout regimen. Following this task, there will be a 5- to 10-minute rest period during which clients can relax. The break time is short for the body to stay in motion. There will be a proper yoga session in the last session, which will last an hour. This is the schedule for those who have spare time and are capable of finishing the whole phase line.
