The company, PSB Fitness, is founded by two graduates from Sheridan’s very own Pilon School of Business, Jessie and Matt. Jessie has 7 years’ experience as a fitness instructor. Matt is a certified personal trainer with 5 years’ experience and 15 existing clients.

Pick a date and time to go to the gym! Make sure that you’re available and won’t have any surprise plans or excuses to miss out on your first day. The more easily it is incorporated into your schedule and route, the more beginner-friendly it is as there will be less resistance before your visit. For Sheridan College staff and especially students, PSB Fitness is located nearby HMC campus, making it convenient to stop by for a workout.
Plan Your Workout!
Try to have a few set beginner workouts or exercises that you would like to test out before you head into the gym! This can be found be either looking online or on the PSB website where we have articles about various beginner-friendly workout and fitness plans. Focus on workouts that will help you reach your personal goals. If you’re looking to increase your stamina and gain more energy, search for cardio or HIIT workouts. If you want to build muscle, try strength training exercises. Bring a Workout Bag
The day or night before, prepare a workout bag. Pack a set of comfy workout or active clothing that’s weather appropriate, a water bottle, towel, light snack, active footwear, headphones, and hygiene products. Our yoga classes range from beginner to advanced. Yoga is a versatile practice and there are multiple modifications for almost every pose. Yoga is not about stretching your body into doughy, freshly baked pretzel. It is about discovering your limits and getting in tune with your body and mind. What is Yoga?
Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice that originated in ancient India. Texts for yoga are also found in the Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain traditions. The word yoga originated from the Sanskrit root yuj, which means “to yoke” or “to unite”. This makes sense since yoga attempts to unite the body, mind and spirt, while also connecting oneself to the universal consciousness. Many different styles of Yoga have been developed over the years, but most still focus on the sole goal of bringing the mind and body together.
Today yoga is focused on weaving together a series of poses and postures, this is called asana. Historical texts speak about varies forms of asanas, breathing exercises, meditation and tantra exercises, which mean to liberate one’s spirit (moksha). It would be a good idea to talk to the trainer at the beginning of the class to find out what level the particular class will be for, and to let them know that this is brand new for you. Now that you’ve found a class to join, you need to ensure you have the right gear. Most kickboxing classes will require you to wear ankle supports, boxing gloves, and headgear.
